SCHAKT Africa Safety, Health, Environmental, Risk and Quality (SHERQ) Policy
The safety and health of staff, associates and others who may be affected by SCHAKT’s activities is fundamental to the success of its operations. The business undertakes a proactive approach to managing safety and health, environment, risk and quality practices, with the objective of creating a safe environment for all operations.
Practically SCHAKT Africa has set standards that address these important issues, constantly striving to achieve the goal of zero incidents, with no lost time or reportable injuries, no environmental incidents and continual improvement of quality processes. This is delivered through compliance with the SCHAKT Africa Ltd Management System, an integrated risk-based management system that will be accredited to OHSAS 18001 (Safety), ISO 9001 (Quality) and ISO 14001 (Environment) and ISO 450001 standards.
This policy is the responsibility of SCHAKT Africa management directors; it is subject to continual improvement and is periodically reviewed to ensure suitability, adequacy and effectiveness in respect of the impacts and risks arising from business operations.
To achieve this policy, SCHAKT Africa Pvt Ltd:
- As a minimum will comply with applicable legal, regulatory requirements and agreements
- Ensures that all staff, associates and partners are competent to undertake their tasks through training, information, instruction and consultation
- Reviews for hazards in all operations and seeks to eradicate or control them
- Aims to provide quality that surpasses its customers’ expectations and adds value for them
- Communicates openly with its stakeholders to ensure an understanding of our SHERQ policies, standards, programs and performance
- Is committed to complying with defined client requirements and procedures.
To achieve results, we will:
- Set common standards for SHERQ
- Establish operational SHERQ objectives and audit and review these regularly
- Include SHERQ evaluation in relevant management decisions
- Seek information from relevant suppliers about their impact on service quality, environment, health & safety.
- Educate/involve staff and associates and ensure systems are easy and efficient to work with
- Exchange knowledge of SHERQ with customers, society and shareholders
